1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to WhichSeriesIsThis.com (and its sister site WhichMovieIsThis.com). The sites let you upload a screenshot or describe a scene so our AI can identify the movie or TV series.

2. Data we collect

Images you upload — sent to Google Gemini AI for analysis. We do not store them after processing.
Text descriptions — sent to Google Gemini AI. Not stored after processing.
Usage data — page views, browser type, and country via Google Analytics (anonymised IP).
reCAPTCHA signals — interaction behaviour analysed by Google reCAPTCHA v3 to detect bots.

3. Cookies & local storage

We use the following cookies and browser storage:

Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) — analytics cookies, expire after 2 years / 24 hours.
Google reCAPTCHA — sets cookies to assess bot risk. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Theme preference — stored in localStorage to remember dark/light mode. No expiry, never sent to our servers.

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or sell your data to third parties.

4. Third-party services

Google Gemini AI — processes your images/descriptions. Google Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics — aggregated, anonymised usage statistics.
Google reCAPTCHA v3 — bot protection on the identification form.
TMDB (The Movie Database) — movie and series metadata. No personal data is shared. TMDB Privacy Policy.
Google AdSense — may display ads and set cookies for ad personalisation.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Since we do not store your uploaded images or descriptions, there is minimal personal data to request. For Analytics opt-out, use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Data retention

Uploaded images and text descriptions are discarded immediately after the AI returns a result. Analytics data is retained for 14 months per Google Analytics default settings.
